5 Ways to Celebrate Labor Day While Social Distancing

Hello everyone, with Labor Day approaching and a three day weekend to fill, it’s time to think of fun ways to celebrate. Labor Day celebrates the social and economic work of American workers and was started by the creation of the labor movement which was on the first Monday of September. This Labor Day weekend, all you busy moms and dads deserve to kick back and relax! With the pandemic still present, celebrating this national holiday will be a little challenging, however, just because we need to social distance, it doesn’t mean we can’t make the most of this holiday! Our Zaftan team brings you 5 ways to celebrate Labor Day while social distancing. 1. Family camping. A great way to be adventurous and stay 6 feet apart from others is to go on a family camping excursion. Whether you travel to your backyard or to your nearest campsite, camping is a fun way to create lasting memories with your family. All you need is a camping set for starters and you will be all set! Then, head over to CleverHiker and read their Ultimate Camping Checklist to get you ready for a weekend of fun camping. Not only is camping great for social distancing, but is also a great family bonding activity. So grab your sleeping bag and get ready for an endless weekend of s’mores! 2. Have a BYOF (bring your own food) barbecue. A barbecue is a classic way to celebrate your labor day weekend. However, sharing food with neighbors and friends may not be the smartest idea during the pandemic. The perfect solution is BYOF. A bring your own food barbecue can help you meet and share a meal with your neighbors and friends while still staying 6ft apart. Try a fun new barbecue recipe from Country Living’s 90 Best Summer Grilling Recipes. 3. Have a movie marathon. Want a relaxing weekend at home this Labor Day? A movie marathon is the perfect activity for the whole family. Find a good series to start with, that is entertaining and engaging. Some popular series you can watch are Star Wars, Twilight, Hunger Games, or Harry Potter.  You can also pick a new Netflix, Disney+ or Hulu series to binge watch. Either way, don’t forget to pack your movie marathon with some yummy snacks! Prepare some movie theater popcorn and pick up your favorite candy. Lastly, hop into your most comfortable clothes or Pjs and sit back and relax! 4. Zoom happy hour. If you were hoping to spend your labor day weekend with some friends or extended family, a Zoom happy hour is the perfect activity! Since traveling isn’t the best for social distancing, you can keep in touch with old friends through Zoom dates. Send out an invite to a group of friends and create a Zoom link for a specific time. This is also a fun way to try out new drink recipes. You could even give your Zoom happy hour a theme. Snack Nation has a list of 59 Ridiculously Fun Virtual Happy Hour Themes including trivia happy hour or poker virtual happy hour. 5. Have a family pool party. To soak up the last month of summer weather, having a Labor Day pool party is the perfect way to cool off. Don’t have an “at home” pool? No problem! Blow up pools, and slip and slides are all the rage. You can purchase a blow up pool for an awesome price at Walmart or Amazon. To add to the fun of the pool party get some sprinklers or slip and slides that the kids will love. This activity is perfect for soaking up the sun and making the most of a beautiful Labor Day weekend. Although Labor Day this year may look a little different than past years, you and your family can still make the best of the weekend trying any of these 5 activities! These 5 ideas are fun and in line with the safety and social distancing guidelines that we currently need to embrace. Warm weather and a long weekend make it perfect to try new things and make unforgettable memories with the ones you love. Let us know if you try any of these ideas this Labor Day and share it with us on social media @designerzankhna! Have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day!
