5 EASY ideas for on-the-go moms to be instantly stylish!
Calling all busy moms! Yes, I’m talking to you – as you’re trying to take a few moments to read this and have a million other things on your mind. But while most of your life revolves around others, it is SO important to spend just a little time on yourself. Here are my five easy tips that will leave you with a put together look and keep you feeling like a rock star! Note: I decided to use some inspiration from my favorite celebrity moms. Hey, if they can look this good, why can’t we?! 1. Find a good tailor. There’s a crazy notion going around that not everyone needs to go to the tailor. Don’t go through life with your clothes fitting just OK. If you like the outfit enough to purchase it, go the extra mile and make sure you are getting the best fit possible. I would start by exploring your community and finding someone who you can trust, but is also reasonable (no more than $8-10 for a hem!). Once you have found your new “best friend” of a tailor, make it part of your lifestyle to check with him/ her on any garments you think could have a sharper look! 2. Find a quick, easy makeup routine that fits your style. Make it something basic and quick (no longer than five minutes every morning), and get in the habit of doing it every morning. It’s the simplest act that will make you feel like your best self all day- and hey, the double- takes in the carpool line never hurt. I like to stick to just blush, eyeliner, mascara, and a little lipstick. 3. Lighten up on your darker days. We all have those days where it feels like the whole world is against us. Whether it’s the dreary weather or a terrible night’s sleep, don’t let it get you down! Put on a bright scarf with colors that make you glow, a splash of matching colorful lipstick, and a beautiful smile and take on the day! Just adding a touch of color will instantly brighten your look and make you appear as put together as ever. (And as an added benefit, brighter lipstick will make your teeth look whiter too!) 4. Make a Statement. Add a colorful piece of statement jewelry to your look. It is so simple yet it can spice up literally any outfit. And with so many colors and styles to choose from, no one will catch on to your little secret! The best part- you can find gorgeous pieces at pretty reasonable prices. So go ahead, stock up on some colorful necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, next time you’re out and about! Warning: Wearing statement jewelry may cause you to receive excessive compliments. 5. Mix up your seasons. Don’t throw your winter clothes in the attic just yet- mix basic styles from different seasons to expand your wardrobe. Take that dreary winter sheath dress and pair it with a colorful sweater and belt atop to make it work for spring as well. Slip on your favorite summer maxi with a cute denim jacket (to make it work for fall) or mix an oversized winter sweater with a pair of shorts or capris! Bottom line, think outside the box!
